Adopt Through The Good Strays Project

We help connect potential adopters with rescue groups and provide a simple adoption form for shelters that do not have an online process yet.

Adoption is more than choosing a dog. It is the beginning of a commitment, a conversation, and a careful process to make sure each animal finds a safe and loving home.

How the Adoption Process Works

  • 1. Choose a dog or rescue group
Start by finding the dog you are interested in through one of our partner shelters or rescue groups.

  • 2. Complete the adoption form
If the rescue group does not have its own online form, you can use this application to share your information.

  • 3. The rescue group reviews your application
The information you provide helps the rescue group understand your home, lifestyle, experience, and expectations.

  • 4. Next steps are handled by the rescue group
The rescue group may contact you for a conversation, home check, meet-and-greet, or additional questions before making a final decision.

Before You Apply

Adopting a dog is a long-term responsibility. Before completing the form, please make sure you are ready to provide:

  • A safe and stable home

  • Time for adjustment, training, and patience

  • Proper food, veterinary care, and daily attention

  • Permission from your landlord, if you rent

  • Commitment from all members of your household

Every rescue group may have its own adoption criteria. Submitting this form does not guarantee adoption, but it helps begin the process in a clear and organized way.

Important Note

The Good Strays Project does not replace the rescue group’s adoption process. We provide this form as a support tool for shelters and rescuers who do not yet have their own online application system. Final adoption decisions, requirements, and follow-up steps are handled directly by the rescue group responsible for the animal.

This helps us find the best match for both you and the dog.
